It is hard to fault Kumquat. She is a moderate
female who combines femininity, volume, capacity, and structural
soundness to the highest degree. She is easy going and fun to work
with, and has a wonderful approach to life coupled with a rather
weird sense of humor. She was the Champion Heifer and Supreme Female
in her only outing at the 2001 Michigan Maine-Anjou State Show. An
easy keeper, with a fall weight of 1510 pounds with a BCS of 6.5 and
a calving interval of 369 (despite being flushed she still stays
with the program!). Kumquat is a Lamont granddaughter; sired by an
Impact cow out of a Witch Doctor cow. We call her the “foundation
fruit cow”, being the dam of Mango and the granddam of Papaya and
Blue (no it’s not a fruit!), and the dam of Sweet Pea and Sprout,
and the W3 heifer.
